Ines Hijmans is trainer, consultant and course designer in the areas of cross-cultural understanding & awareness, international business communication and international negotiations. Having ten years of experience in international public administration, her exposure to diverse multicultural environments has taught her that there is more to cross-border trade than having the best offer. Ines works with coporate & public institutions, individuals and government designing a range of training modules and materials that provide the fundamental building blocks for enhancing cross-cultural performance.
Her experience ranges from intercultural management to simulation exercises on communicating on an international forum level. Ines has experience working with all nationalities globally and 40+ countries with a focus on US, Latin America, Western Europe, Central and Eastern European Countries and Africa. Clients include amongst others: Heineken, Unilever, Philips, Starbucks, Johnson & Johnson, Dow Chemicals, Intel, Hewlett Packard, ING Bank, Sanofi Pasteur, Simmons & Simmons, Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Clingendael Institute of International Relations.
A Dutch native, speaking also fluent French & English and fair Italian & German, she holds a postgraduate diploma with merit in EC Competition Law from King’s College London, a Master of Laws in Dutch & EU comparative law and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in legal translations French and English.
Having lived in different countries, she has further enriched her knowledge of cultural barriers that can arise and extended her vast international network. She describes herself a ‘passe-partout’. Her approach is open-minded & service oriented. Combined with a natural sense of communicating with people from a different cultural background, Ines shares her experiences on how issues can be dealt with differently and that breaking down barriers enables you to stay on common ground.
